Leeds University has appointed Universal AV to consult on a new learning space within its Business School.

The new space includes teaching rooms and behaviour labs designed for in person and distance learning.

Collaboration

Audio visual specialists, Universal AV, were consulted on the build, specifying the audio visual solutions required, and were tendered to carry out the integration.

Mark Atkinson, sales manager at Universal AV, said: “The Esther Simpson building provides a truly inclusive space for learning. The building is fully accessible, and specialist and expert consideration has been given to providing generous space, fluid access for all, and features to assist people with visual, hearing and cognitive difficulties.”

Working with construction team BAM, Universal AV carried out the audio-visual integration, devising project management plans and priorities.

The final environment and technology includes a Harvard style lecture theatre, a traditional lecture theatre, flat floored collaborative teaching environments, seminar rooms, trading rooms, an IT cluster, behaviour labs, a data collection lab, an observation room, two boardrooms and informal areas.

Tamsin Barrow, facilities manager at Leeds University Business School, added: “We have built an innovation flagship building fit for the future. The technology installed is flexible enough to adapt to our future needs.”
