Kudos, part of the Crown Group today re-launched Wesley’s, the café at Methodist Central Hall Westminster (MCHW), London.
Over 100 guests including local businesses and members of the Church were invited to a breakfast to mark to occasion. All guests were given the opportunity to choose from a range of pastries or fully cooked breakfast along with fresh juices and hot drinks.
Reverend Martin Turner, Superintendent Minister and Director of MCHW gave a short presentation along with a very brief outline on the history of the building, which was followed by the official opening by Christine Wykes, Secretary and Director of MCHW.
The venue is an Edwardian building which is located in Westminster opposite Big Ben and adjacent to Westminster Abbey. It is open to the public and has 30 rooms which can be hired for a wide range of events including conferences and receptions up to 2,200 guests.
MCHW first opened in 1912 as a monument to mark the centenary of John Wesley’s death (the founder of Methodism); the basement and conservatory was open to the public as a café with a brief to be capable of serving 1,000 cups of tea each day.
Previously the café was refurbished in 1970 and at the time made smaller to allow for an exhibition space.
