Keynsham’s Old Fry Club and Conference Centre bulldozed as new pavilion rises

The former Fry Club and Conference Centre at the Somerdale site in Keynsham has been knocked down to make way for new housing development.

The Bath Chronicle reported that the building had been bulldozed as part of a redevelopment of the former Cadbury site.

The foundation stone was laid on the site last month to mark the beginning of a £60m transformation, which will see the St Monica Trust build 151-assisted living flats, a 90-bed care home, offices, shops, and leisure facilities.

The Fry Club was founded over 40 years ago by the Fry’s Chocolate Company as a sports and social club for its employees. A new centre, the Somerdale Pavilion, opened in August 2015 and is managed by charity Aquaterra. The new facility has five function rooms able to host large seminars, small private dinners and banquets, as well as presentations and exhibitions.
