The Conference News (CN) Pavilion will offer a programme of sessions on key events industry topics in its mini theatre during International Confex, and readers are invited to join the debates with a big line up of industry experts.

Is the hosted buyer model passed its sell by date; does it need an overhaul and does it take hospitality dangerously close to areas covered in the Bribery Act, or is it, rather, the best way to bring buyers and sellers together? EventPlannersTalk Live will present a panel debate on the true value of controversial hosted buyer programmes. The panel will be moderated by Robert Kenward and includes Johnny D. Martinez, Richard John, Valerie Kosh and Adam Parry.

The big opening session on Day 1 will be followed up with some valuable advice on tapping into the event apprentice programme, with specialist trainers David Preston and Richard John. They will explore the ‘Whys and hows of setting up an events apprenticeship’.

Young professionals keen to find a way into the industry should find the session illuminating and, larger companies, will be able to find out how they can access a scheme that they are already paying for.

CN Pavilion sessions on 28 February will be rounded off with an invitation-only CN ThirtyUnder30 drinks reception sponsored by Cvent.

An inspector calls early on Day 2, 1 March, with ex-DCI in the Metropolitan Police, Steve Gaskin (also MD of Right Angle Events Ltd), delivering a session on ‘Securing your events’. Steve will share his dual specialisms – security and events management – bringing them together to advise on how best to win customers by keeping your delegates safe against the threats of the modern world.

Our second major session track on Day 2 will be a follow up from Helen Moon’s (pictured) Main Stage presentation. Helen will draw on her experiences with both EWL (Eventprofs Who Learn) and from her #eventwell campaign, and drill down further into issues and continue the conversation started the Main Stage earlier.

Expect some true inspiration and action points for keeping healthy staff and healthy events at this pop-up EWL event.

Moon is a CIM qualified events and marketing director with an eclectic mix of experience in the events industry that spans 21 years and includes event production, venue operations, proactive sales and digital marketing. She is CEO and founder of EWL Club, editor of the Diary of an #Eventprof blog, and now MD of EventWell Ltd and co-founder of #EventWell17 and UK Event Wellbeing Week.

After a busy event show how many delegates might be thinking how they will be winding down. Helen will ask: ‘What will you be doing to recharge your batteries and prepare your body and brain for the next challenging event?’

Moon will share and discuss ways you can counteract the stresses and strains endured while attending and working at a busy event and show, what you should be doing to allow your body and brain to recover and restore some balance, and how you can prepare yourself to be firing on all cylinders at the next.

The CN Pavilion will also present several partners, with their stand ‘pods’ and our editorial team will be on hand to discuss your news, views and innovations, so note the timings below in your show diary and see you there!
