As INTX celebrates its 25th anniversary, managing director Andrew Globe reflects on the events transportation company’s evolution, resilience through challenges and ambitious plans for the future.

INTX is celebrating a significant milestone—25 years in the industry. From its beginnings in Liverpool, the company has grown into a major player in the events and transportation sectors. As INTX marks this impressive anniversary, managing director Andrew Globe shares insights into the company’s journey, challenges and future aspirations.

INTX was founded in 1999 as a small Liverpool-based transport company, initially serving the music industry with clients like Atomic Kitten and Blue. Over the next few years, INTX diversified its services, adding corporate clients and laying the foundation for broader market expansion.

From 2002 to 2005, INTX expanded its scope by handling high-profile events such as European Presidency meetings in major UK cities and taking part in international music events like Creamfields. “These early milestones were crucial in establishing our reputation for managing large-scale, complex events,” says Globe. “They set the stage for our future growth and success.”

The period from 2005 to 2008 saw INTX further diversify, securing contracts for events like Liverpool’s Capital of Culture and the Blackpool Illuminations Switch On. This era also marked a transition to Mercedes vehicles.

A pivotal moment came in 2008 when INTX became the official transport partner for ACC Liverpool. The company’s capabilities were showcased through events like the ‘Giants’ and The Open Golf Royal Liverpool, highlighting its expertise in handling high-profile and logistically complex projects.

Industry challenges

The events industry encountered significant hurdles in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, including driver shortages and disrupted supply chains. INTX demonstrated resilience by adapting quickly to these obstacles. “The pandemic posed significant challenges, but it also provided an opportunity for us to innovate and adapt,” says Globe. “We identified new market opportunities and stepped in where others struggled, expanding our client base and proving our reliability.”

INTX also implemented rigorous health and safety measures during the pandemic, maintaining client confidence and continuing operations during uncertain times. The company’s post-pandemic recovery was marked by substantial growth in 2023, including a 40% increase compared to the previous year and a 150% rise in coach and chauffeur hire from pre-pandemic levels.

Technological innovation has been central to this success. “Our cloud-based system allows clients to track bookings and manage their transport needs in real-time,” Globe explains. “For large-scale events, we provide personalised platforms to help manage movements and accommodate changes efficiently.”

Sustainability commitments

Sustainability has become a core focus for INTX. In 2024, the company received a Silver Award from Green Tourism, up from its previous Bronze status. “Sustainability is integral to our values,” says Globe. “Our Green Tourism Silver Award reflects our progress and commitment to reducing our environmental impact.”

INTX’s sustainability efforts include initiatives such as eliminating single-use plastics, switching to eco-friendly cleaning products, and conducting climate change risk assessments. The company also supports local community projects through partnerships with FareShare and The Oliver King Foundation.

A significant project underway is the measurement of INTX’s carbon footprint. “We’ve started working with 2030hub to gather data and set reduction goals,” adds Globe. “By the end of 2024, we aim to publish a report outlining our current footprint and our path to achieving net zero.”

As INTX celebrates its 25th anniversary, the company is looking to the future with plans for expansion and innovation. “We’re excited about expanding our geographical reach, particularly across Europe,” Globe reveals. “Investing in our team and embracing new technologies will be crucial as we continue to grow.”

INTX is also exploring emerging technologies like AI to enhance client experiences. “We’re focused on leveraging technology to provide greater personalisation, efficiency, and flexibility,” says Globe. “As a family business, we’re proud of our legacy, and with my son Mark Globe now a director, we’re well-positioned to continue our commitment to excellence for many years to come.”
