The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) has announced it will bring its ISTH 2022 Congress to London. The official meeting dates and venue will be announced in early 2018.
“On behalf of the thrombosis and haemostasis community in the United Kingdom, we are delighted that London has been appointed as the location for the ISTH 2022 Congress,” said Beverley Hunt, professor of thrombosis and hemostasis at King’s College and Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust in London, who will serve as the 2022 Congress chair together with a Local Organising Committee.
“The ISTH Congress unites the world’s leading experts in the field to discuss new research and clinical applications designed to improve patient care. As such, we look forward to the opportunity to welcome attendees from around the world to our innovative and multicultural city,” professor Hunt added.
The UK most recently hosted an ISTH Congress in 2003 in Birmingham. ISTH meeting locations are selected following an extensive bid process by prospective Local Organising Committees.“The ISTH is proud to host its upcoming 2022 Congress in the sophisticated city of London, which is the home to several top leaders in the field and provides an excellent global meeting infrastructure,” said Ingrid Pabinger, ISTH chairman of council. “We are confident that this will be an incredibly successful congress.”
Last year, the ISTH announced a strategic decision to hold an annual global congress beginning in 2019. As part of this new format, the ISTH will implement a formal rotation pattern for its annual congresses, creating more frequent and consistent opportunities for engagement of the global community.
The 27th ISTH Congress takes place in Melbourne, in July 2019. There is also an Annual Scientific and Standardisation meeting of the ISTH in Dublin in July 2018. The 26th ISTH Congress took place in Berlin in July 2017.
ISTH is an international professional membership organisation with more than 5,000 clinicians, researchers and educators.
