British B Corp production and technical solution provider, SLX is calling on industry leaders to adopt more rigorous and transparent environmental reporting practices following events.
SLX, the highest-scoring B Corp for technical production, recently launched its impact service, and set a new standard for sustainability reporting and strategy in the sector.
The impact service, developed through years of internal sustainability initiatives and client collaborations, offers an approach to impact assessment for live events and theatre productions.
This tailored methodology acknowledges the diverse and complex nature of productions, providing a tiered system that addresses the varied responsibilities of different stakeholders in the event creation process.
Phoebe Currie, sustainability and social values manager at SLX said: “We recognised a critical gap between our clients’ desire to make positive changes and the lack of comprehensive data to inform these decisions. Our impact service bridges this gap, empowering clients to ground their events in sustainable practices and make informed decisions for a better future.”
SLX has a transparent reporting process for their carbon footprint, having invested in a 120kw solar array. Last year, 35% of the energy created was consumed directly at its headquarters. The other 65% of solar energy was exported back into the energy grid.
SLX demonstrated its commitment to sustainability at Paris 2024, as an official supporter of broadcast lighting and rigging at the Olympic Games.
