The Repertory Theatre in the heart of Birmingham opened its doors 25 November to welcome conference and booking agents from the area to view the newly-refurbished theatre, which re-opened in September after a two-and-a-half-year redevelopment.
The agents were invited to attend The Independent Venue Showcase, organised by marketing and events agency, CHS Group and to meet with over 30 venues from across the UK. The showcase was spread across the first floor gallery with a drinks reception, mini exhibition and dinner in the iconic venue.
A wide range of venues was represented from country house estates such as Longleat near Bath, five-star The Mere Resort in Cheshire, to large conference centres such as Telford International Centre and unusual venues such as Newbury Racecourse and The Monastery in Manchester.
CHS Group, who also organise the annual Conference and Hospitality Show in Leeds, plan to continue to run the showcases for independent venues in 2014, building on the success of 2013.
