HSBC has cancelled its 2025 UK Corporate & Investor Conference, due to take place this month.
The event was one of HSBC’s main forums for bringing together UK business leaders, analysts and investors.
HSBC is shutting down its M&A and equity capital markets teams in Europe, and this recent cancellation comes as part of that shift. The bank is restructuring its investment banking division, to focus more on operations in Asia.
The cancelled conference typically featured sector briefings and market outlooks. It also allowed UK corporates to meet HSBC research teams and pitch to potential investors.
HSBC has not confirmed if the event will return in 2026 – no virtual or replacement format has been announced.
The cancellation removes a key networking fixture from the UK investor relations calendar. It also signals a reduced domestic role for HSBC’s investment banking arm in the UK.
The move follows other cuts at the bank, including reduced European trading operations. HSBC continues to scale back its exposure to Western markets, aligning with the bank’s long-term pivot to Asia.
HSBC’s Annual General Meeting is set to be held at the InterContinental London O2, but no venue had been disclosed for the Corporate & Investor Conference.
No comment has been made publicly by HSBC on the cancellation.
