With the aim to attract more intimate events, the Harrogate International Centre (HIC) has refurbished its smallest function room, the King’s Suite.
The new-look King’s Suite was unveiled at a champagne reception, where owners of local small- and medium-sized companies were shown the potential of the facility.
HIC bosses hope the 475sqm suite will enable them to attract buyers in the market for smaller conference, meetings and events.
“We felt the King’s Suite wasn’t being used to its full potential and we saw a gap in the market for a meeting room or small conference venue,” says HIC Deputy Director, Vickie Wilson. “We have now introduced a range of packages and have re-branded the suite. We have redecorated it and filled it with equipment we already owned.
“We will now be actively marketing the King’s Suite to local businesses in York, Harrogate and Leeds.”
Brian Dunsby, Head of event management company Perlex Associates, was one of the VIP’s invited to the launch earlier this week. He said: “I recall that during our own conventions and similar technical events that I have attended, the King’s Suite was a room of last resort. Now it is an attractive meeting room for anything between 50 and 250 people on ground level, easily accessible from the new main entrance foyer of the HIC complex.”
