Contractors have begun work to develop facilities at the High Leigh Conference Centre in Hertfordshire.

The work, which has a massive £3.5m budget, will see the centre transformed to include a new accommodation wing.

The High Leigh Conference Centre, owned by the Christian Conference Trust, currently has 40 acres of lawns, parkland and woodland.

The project will see the addition of 38 bedrooms, including two accessible rooms, bringing the total number of bedrooms with ensuite facilities to 168. The bedrooms can be adapted for individual use, shared use or for families.

Set in the countryside of Hoddesdon, the energy efficient building will feature solar panels and air source heat pumps.

Over the years, the location has been used for a range of activities including residential conferences for delegates, small business meetings, church weekends away, corporate away days or evening functions.

Each year more than 25,000 people spend between one day and a week at High Leigh, with the location continuing to increase its potential as a go to location for businesses and groups in the local area.

The work is being undertaken by Barnes Construction, a family owned business from Ipswich, Suffolk with the work scheduled for completion in June 2020.

The Mayor of Hoddesdon, Councillor Steve Wortley, was present
