A Lancashire hotel is to undergo extensive refurbishments worth over half a million pounds on the back of achieving its highest ever revenue results and an increase in social banqueting.
Hallmark Hotel Preston Leyland, part of independent hotel group Hallmark Hotels, is investing £550k into refreshing the design and infrastructure of its bedrooms and bathrooms.
Near to Preston, Liverpool and Manchester, the hotel’s 2017 rebrand from Best Western to Hallmark Hotels has seen a rise in its events business, the Hallmark team reports.
GM John Knowles says: “We spent sufficient time in 2017 gathering guest feedback to help us distribute investment wisely and ensure we remain at the forefront of a competitive market. We look forward to watching the work begin and gain guest insights post-development.”
The hotel drew nearly 6,000 attendees during its Christmas party season and posted a 4% increase in revenue from conferences in 2017. Now the team is forecasting an increase of a further 8% in 2018.
Knowles adds that once the project is completed in March there will be a re-launch of wedding packages which he predicts will sustain the recent increase in social banqueting bookings.
The investment into Hallmark Hotel Preston Leyland is part of the group’s wider refurbishment initiative to modernise several of its portfolio of 27 hotels across the country.
The Preston Leyland hotel has 13 meeting rooms, which can hold up to 360 delegates.
The Hallmark brand was formed in 2007 with a portfolio of eight hotels, which were acquired by Topland Group in 2014, a privately owned international investment group, following the earlier acquisition of the former Menzies Hotel group of 12 hotels in 2013. In 2015, the group was further strengthened by the acquisition of eight Feathers hotels, all based in the North West of England. The group now comprises a collection of 27 hotels across the UK, offering over 2,600 bedrooms and over 170 meeting rooms.
