The family-owned Grays Hotel and Conference Centre in Telford has re-branded to Ramada Telford Ironbridge. The Gray family’s Southwater Event Group (SEG) is keeping its existing management team in place, albeit under the Ramada brand.
SEG Chief Executive, Tom Gray, explains the strategy: “We have rebranded the hotel to increase its prominence in the local market, and to give it a brand identity which fits well with our existing reputation for style, comfort and superb customer service. All existing staff will stay with us; this is purely a change in image to position our hotel more clearly for guests and event organisers.
“We are delighted to have joined forces with Ramada, part of the Wyndham Hotel Group with over 7,410 hotels worldwide.”
Guests at the hotel will now be eligible for the Wyndham Rewards programme, where points for stays can be redeemed against a variety of rewards including airline travel, event tickets, gift certificates, and restaurants.
Stuart Smith, Director of Operations and Support for Wyndham Hotel Group, says: “We are pleased to work with Southwater Event Group and add Ramada Telford Ironbridge to our growing list of destinations throughout Europe, the Middle East and ica. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short hop from The International Centre and major leisure attractions, and we are confident the hotel will continue to be a firm favourite with both business and leisure guests alike.”
The hotel’s GM Mel Stanton (pictured with Smith) says: “The rebrand to Ramada makes this an exciting time for both the team and our guests.”
Since taking over the hotel in 2007, SEG has refurbished all 90 en-suite bedrooms and plans to make more improvements to the reception area, the bar and the restaurant.
The hotel has 15 meeting and conference rooms with capacities for up to 100 delegates and can host a variety of occasions from private boardroom meetings through to conferences with multiple seminar streams.
