The Global Alliance, which comprises five purpose-built convention centres across four continents, launched its ’Seamless Conferencing’ service for international events at a media and buyer breakfast meeting on the first morning of IMEX America in Las Vegas.

Alliance members include: The Durban International Convention Centre; Adelaide Convention Centre; Centro Banamex; ACC Liverpool; Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and Hynes Convention Center.

Durban ICC CEO Julie-May Ellingson (pictured), Chair of Global Alliance, told the meeting the new service had been designed to benefit clients organising international events that rotate around the globe by transferring a detailed understanding of a particular congress or event requirements to the next host convention centre. Members, she said, would take a full de-brief of the event and transfer this knowledge to their associate venue member ready for the next or future event.

“Global Alliance aims to minimise the need to brief venue teams about their event needs from scratch, saving time and effort on the part of the organiser and making for an altogether more professional and seamless transfer between venues and countries,” said Ellingson.

“Our members know from experience that this personal touch can make all the difference between a good event and a great event; Global Alliance members aspire to deliver excellence throughout all member venues,” she added.

Asked by CN whether there would be any discount or price incentives offered, Ellingson noted that the Alliance members strove to ’price match’, adding: “We’ve got to be competitive or clients are less likely to return. We’re all chasing budgets, of course.”

ACC Liverpool’s Sales Director Kerrin Macphie gave the example of hybrid event knowledge transfer as one area where the five teams could co-operate to win business.
