The challenges of urbanisation and future trends in the meetings and events industry were discussed by industry experts at an event organised by the German Convention Bureau (GCB). Senior meeting and events professionals from across London and the wider area gathered at the Crystal, one of London’s newest and most innovative venues, to hear about these key industry issues and exchange ideas with major industry players from all over Germany.
Matthias Schultze, MD of the GCB, presented the headline results of an extensive study the organisation has undertaken, in his address entitled ’Future Trends and Changes in the Meeting and Events Industry – A Study for International Event Managers’. This comprehensive study covered the top five megatrends, focusing globalisation and technisation.
The keynote address, ‘How to do things with cities: a pathway to the future’, was delivered by Martin Powell, Head of Urban Development within the Siemens Global Cities Centre of Competence.
