Fay Sharpe’s industry mentoring scheme Fast Forward 15, now in its fourth year, is inviting mentor applications for 2018.

The 12-month, not-for-profit programme, created by Sharpe, VP BCD Meetings and Events EMEA, works with experienced industry players willing to share their insight, experience and outlooks.

The mentees are offered the opportunity to develop under a programme that particularly supports women in the events and hospitality industries.

Sharpe, who was recognised with a Shine Award for her Fast Forward 15 programme, received 150 mentee applications in 2017 from women across the sector.

Mentors span all levels and Sharpe says becoming a mentor not only has a huge impact on mentees, but also enhances and develops the coaching skills of the volunteer mentors.

“It is always great to see senior industry figures come forward and dedicate their time to invest in the future of the industry and it is clear that the influence on both mentors and mentees has been extremely positive,” says Sharpe. “From increased confidence and self-belief to tangible personal growth across the board, the mentees’ development has already been remarkable and is a testament to our prestigious group of mentors.

“Through Fast Forward 15, it is our ambition to challenge the issues surrounding gender inequality within the industry and I am immensely proud of the fantastic work our mentors and mentees are undertaking.

“I can’t wait to get started again in the New Year, with new participants and would encourage anyone at the top of their game to get involved.”

BCD Meetings & Events are inviting mentor applications and are asking for 150 words on why someone would like to be a mentor, as well as information detailing skills and experience. Applications must be submitted to Fay.Sharpe@bcdme.com – by the 17 January 2018.

Mentee applications are now open and will close on the 28 February 2018 and the next programme will launch in May 2018.
