Eventopedia, the cloud-based search engine for event planners, has announced the appointment of two independent non-executive directors.
John Macpherson, CEO at BMLL Technologies, joins the board, having worked for Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Nomura for over 20 years.
Macpherson is also senior advisor, consultant and non-executive director to a handful of start-ups and SMEs.
Macpherson brings an in depth insight into the technology required to support customer requirements and service levels needed to grow and maintain a strong P&L.
He said: “I see great synergies in the paths of Eventopedia and BMLL Technologies and there is a huge opportunity to transform the meeting and events industry using the cloud-based platform that Eventopedia has created with Microsoft. I am really excited to join the Eventopedia team and help accelerate the global growth in the coming months.”
James Pimentel-Pinto is an advisor to a number of private companies and also becomes a non-executive director. He was a CTO for London digital agencies (Dare, VCCP, Iris Worldwide) and drove the use of digital as a viable channel for business resulting in real success for clients including Unilever, Barclays, Sony Ericsson and Shell.
In 2006 he founded agencymobile to continue his digital evangelism mission through the nascent mobile channel.
He commented: “I’ve been working with and advising the founders at Eventopedia for 12-months and am delighted to be joining the board as a NED. I believe that the founders have the right approach to unifying, simplifying and enhancing an industry desperately in need of agile solutions for its users.”
Eventopedia CEO, Toby Heelis (pictured centre) added: “We are delighted to appoint two highly experienced professionals to join the
board. They bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise across key disciplines.”
