Event industry association Eventia is to host a free consultation meeting for both members and event professional colleagues from across the UK on TOMS and travel regulations.

The UK Government has issued a Call for Evidence on the EU Commission’s draft reform of the Package Travel Regulations (PTR), to which Eventia is responding by hosting the consultation.

Eventia members will be aware of its recent agreement with HMRC on VAT invoicing of the ‘Non TOMS’ elements of events, and the recent European Court of Justice decision on wholesale supplies. Both of these key areas of regulation have a direct bearing on the business model of agencies, destination management companies and others in the events business.

The deadline for responses on PTR Reform is 29 November so the Eventia Regulation Committee is holding a consultation meeting ahead of this to give members and other businesses affected by these changes the opportunity to have their say and hopefully influence the final form of this legislation. Members can also get an up-date on how changes to TOMS and the latest ECJ Judgement may affect their business.

The seminar, which takes place on Wednesday 13 November between 2pm and 6pm at Saffery Champness Offices, London will take the form of two two-hour interactive sessions lead by Eventia Regulation Committee Chairman, Brian Kirsch (pictured), MD of Event Assured.

More information and two papers that you need to read before going along can be found on the Eventia website.
