The MD of Mackerel Sky Events and lecturer at Falmouth University, Claire Eason-Bassett, has been appointed to the Eventia Education Committee.
As a member of the event industry association’s committee, she will be involved in developing event management education approaches nationally, working with other leading educators and event managers.
The role, Eventia says, is to play a part in ensuring that event education is entirely appropriate to the industry and that the industry takes an active role in supporting education.
“Developing our current and future event managers is vital to the success and sustainability of the industry,” says Eason-Bassett. “It requires our trade body, Eventia, to engage with academia to enable our graduating students to be employable within the sector and to support a range of continuing professional development activities.”
Mackerel Sky Events has worked in partnership with Falmouth University and Plymouth University for the last four years delivering teaching, training and event projects.
The appointment of Eason-Bassett coincides with Strategic Partner of Mackerel Sky Clare Hearn’s appointment as a Lecturer at Falmouth University on the BA(Hons) Creative Events Management. Hearn wrote the course with Claire Eason-Bassett in 2008 and has played a vital role in the development of the course.
With its sister company Event Cornwall, Mackerel Sky Events has built a diverse portfolio of events from community festivals to corporate functions.
