Eastbourne Conference Bureau reports it has the highest number of conferences and exhibitions booked into the town’s Devonshire Park Centre in over 10 years.
Bringing an estimated £11m in economic value to the town, 21 overnight conferences and exhibitions in 2013 are expected to bring in 15,000 residential delegates during the spring and autumn months.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, Cllr. Carolyn Heaps said close liaison between Eastbourne Conference Bureau and local hotels and guest houses allied to embracing digital marketing methods had meant the south coast resort was “now able to enjoy our best year in a long while”.
New for 2013 includes the Royal College of Anaesthetists bringing their annual conference to Eastbourne for the first time, and the International Hearing Loop Conference is set to bring attendees from all over the world for their global event.
The projections of a bright summer, follow a successful autumn season which included high profile politicians and a cabinet minister’s speech at the National Children’s and Adult Services conference, and more recently the Youth Works Conference which was trending UK-wide on Twitter.
New clients sourced via Twitter have included the UKIP party conference, which brought 800 delegates to the town in 2011.
