Destination management organisation Experience Nottinghamshire’s strategic board has appointed the MD of East Midlands Trains, David Horne, as its new Chairman with immediate effect.
Horne will take over the role from Brad Miller, whose position with Manchester Airport Group is moving him out of the region.
Horne’s senior leadership and experience in the transport sector will be valuable in leading the Experience Nottinghamshire strategic board, which has a commitment to growing opportunities for tourism in Nottinghamshire and driving visitors to the city and county.
East Midlands Trains and Experience Nottinghamshire already enjoy a close partnership, thanks to their shared aim of increasing the numbers of visitors to the region.
Horne will be working closely with the board to continue its current work of positioning Nottingham and surrounding areas as a first-class destination for business events, conferences and leisure visitors.
“David is a natural fit to lead our strategic board, thanks to his strong background in customer service, travel, transport and commercial know-how,” says Chief Executive of Experience Nottinghamshire, Jennifer Spencer.
Horne has been MD at East Midlands Trains since 2011, and has 20 years’ experience of working in the rail industry. He has previously held senior positions with Virgin Trains, Stagecoach Rail, South West Trains and Wales & West Trains.
Experience Nottinghamshire is a not-for-profit destination management organisation, led by private sector partners, with financial support from Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Newark & Sherwood District Council.
