Decline in business travel to UK accelerating

The plummeting pound has failed to arrest a decline in overseas business travel to the UK, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

While there has been a 13% fall in sterling’s value against the dollar since last year’s vote for Brexit, the number of overseas business travellers coming to the UK has fallen 3% over 2017. The fall is even steeper over the last quarter – 4%.

Business travel from the UK is also down, 7% over the last quarter and down 1% for the year to date, according to the new data from ONS.
