Cvent CONNECT Europe, a meetings, events and hospitality technology provider, has announced its diversity panel discussion which will take place on Wednesday 16 October at the InterContinental London, The O2.
The panel discussion will be entitled ‘Hidden Diversity: Inclusivity When you Can’t See the Difference’.
Cvent aims for attendees to gain insight around what hidden diversity in the workplace means. It also hopes to highlight what changes the events industry can make to ensure a more inclusive environment in the workplace and at events.
Facilitating the panel discussion will be June Sarpong, MBE and BBC director of Creative Diversity.
The panel will include Lizzy Eaton, director at Oddity Events and Marketing, James Gould, head of events at Zurich Insurance and Carys Miller, campaign manager at The Valuable 500.
Cvent will also provide attendees with 70 thought leadership workshops, panel sessions and roundtable discussions covering the latest industry trends and practices.
Judy Elvey, director of marketing for Cvent in Europe, said: “There are more than 1.3 billion people across the world who live with some form of disability, which includes those suffering from autism and dyslexia, or experiencing daily chronic pain, and yet many in the industry still struggle to understand what being truly inclusive means in the context of our day-to-day routines.
“The events industry is already making big strides to ensure gender, race, sexuality and physical disabilities are accepted, accommodated, and respected in the workplace. Yet more education is needed so that those working in the events space have a greater understanding around what diversity really means. The session will address misconceptions surrounding diversity, as well as discuss what practical steps can be implemented.”
