Crowne Plaza Newcastle takes up the NewcastleGateshead Initiative

The Crowne Plaza, Newcastle, has partnered with destination management and marketing agency, NewcastleGateshead Initiative to help drive more business visitors to the city.

General manager of the Crowne Plaza Newcastle, Andrew Fox, will take up a place on NewcastleGateshead Initiative’s board.

Set in the Stephenson Quarter, a £200m site, the hotel has already made a positive impact on the North East’s tourism industry. The hotel has created 150 jobs since it opened in September 2015. Management reports £1m of confirmed business has been achieved with a further £2m holding space going into 2016 and some events already confirmed for 2017.

Fox said: “NewcastleGateshead Initiative is a fantastic organisation which undertakes a vital role in promoting our destination to national and international audiences.

“I am delighted to have a place on the board, which will allow us to be at the heart of shaping the future of tourism in NewcastleGateshead and the North East region.”

Sarah Stewart, chief executive at NewcastleGateshead Initiative, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Andrew Fox to our board and Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter, as part of Clouston Group, as a gold partner of NewcastleGateshead Initiative.”
