The ’Olympic effect’ is being credited with helping increase bookings by 55 per cent at Cotswold Conference Centre.

Although London was the base for the Olympic Games, the business boost has been felt across the country.

Cotswold Conference Centre (CCC) based on the Farncombe Estate, has seen 55 per cent more business on its books this year compared to the same period in 2011. By the end of June, bookings were up from £850,000 last year to more than £1.25m this year.

“We’ve increased our number of bedrooms, invested in a new dining room and won a series of awards so we are certainly doing our bit to improve our offer,” says Operations Manger Richard Howdle. “However, there is no doubt that the Olympics is also having an impact by attracting business to the country.

“Our like-for-like sales have increased considerably, which I believe is due to the greater recognition we are getting as well as the so-called Olympic effect.”

CCC was recently awarded the Best British Tourism venue in the UK at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
