ConferenceLeeds is celebrating landing the British Society for Rheumatology’s (BSR) Autumn Conference, which comes to the city for the first time, 11–12 October at the Royal Armouries International. The BSR conference is the second healthcare win in two months for the city and follows on the securing the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) National Trainees Conference on 16-17 November.

BSR’s conference organisers expect to attract 200 delegates to come to the city for their event.

ConferenceLeeds helped source the venue and also the dinner event at Crafthouse in Leeds.

The conference brings together the entire rheumatologic profession, with this year’s programme focusing on chronic pain in rheumatology; crystal arthropathies; psoriatic arthritis and pregnancy and rheumatic diseases.

With Leeds being home to the UK’s largest NHS trust, the biggest teaching hospital in Europe and headquarters to four out of the five NHS bodies, the conference gives those who attend a good setting to share and exchange clinical best practice in a centre for excellence.

BSR event manager Daisy Southam said: “We are very excited to be bringing our autumn conference to Leeds for the very first time. The city is a major hub for healthcare, especially for the rheumatology sector, with a major department at the hospital and one of our keynote speakers is also based here.

“Having been in Bath last year, we wanted to bring the conference up to the North and Leeds seemed a perfect fit. With the help of ConferenceLeeds, we have been able to find a venue that’s perfectly suited to our needs and their expert knowledge really helped when finding accommodation for our keynote speakers.”

Jennifer Young, head of ConferenceLeeds, added: “We are delighted that BSR has selected Leeds for its Autumn Conference. Healthcare conference wins are coming in thick and fast this year, which is credit to the outstanding network of healthcare professionals and academia we have here.”
