Birmingham-based events venue, Conference Aston, has supported a local school as part of its environmental responsibility scheme.
SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School were presented with a collection of blankets and a stage from the venue to assist with children’s activities such as summer picnics and team building exercises.
The blankets and stage were surplus items from the hotel rooms and conference centre, which were part of a “comprehensive replacement program”.
Martyna Szewczuk, Conference Aston’s head housekeeper, was a key component in the donation and is involved with the school’s Parents and Family Association.
Samantha Brown (pictured), head of Conference Aston, said: “We were happy to support Martyna by donating to SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School. Conference Aston is keen to do all it can with its sustainability efforts and objectives, so this donation aligned perfectly with our initiatives.
“Our journey in sustainability and eco-friendly practices began in 2011 when we became the first academic venue to get certified for our Environmental Management System, and ever since, we have relentlessly tried to uphold ourselves to that standard – it is donations and initiatives like this that help us create an impact in the local community.”
