The Conference and Hospitality Show signed off its third annual event with what the organiser claims is the “UK’s first meetings industry flashmob”.
The organiser of the one-day exhibition for the meetings industry, held at Leeds United Football Club, enlisted exhibitors and staff from the host venue to partake in joint singing and dancing during the ‘hospitality hour’ of the show.
Exhibitors, including sales staff from Leeds United Football Club, Radisson Blu, Conference Leeds and Chilled Events took to the floor along with the organiser and entertained visitors with choreographed singing and dancing routines.
“We always keep the last hour of the show as Hospitality Hour and this year we thought we would get as many exhibitors involved in the entertainment as possible,” says Show Organiser, Emma Cartmell.
“The exhibitors were great and really got into the swing of things, we had even had secret rehearsals.”
Cartmell says the show has doubled in size since its inception and this year attracted more pre-registered visitors than ever before. The show attracted 100 exhibitors, 400 meeting and event planners including high profile agencies such as Universal World Events, W & O Events, Expotel and Travel Leads and 100 VIP buyers.
Other highlights of the show included a culinary demonstration and question and answer session by celebrity chef James Martin, a keynote breakfast address by the Chief Executive of Meet England, James Beresford, and a presentation from UK President of Meeting Professionals International, Samme Allen. Lectures took place throughout the day covering everything from event planning to the use of social media platforms to personal well being.
“As first time exhibitors at the Conference and Hospitality Show we were extremely pleased, both with the quantity and quality of buyers who came to our stand,” says exhibitor and Business Tourism Manager for Scotland, Moira Unwin. “Our key business objectives for attending were to meet our existing clients as well as widen our network of new contacts, and the show certainly ticked the boxes for both. We will be back in 2013.”
