Conference News and Mash Media are celebrating after its Online Editor Sarah O’Donnell claimed for the second consecutive year the Best Use of Social Media in Business Travel Journalism Award at last night’s (15 November) Business Travel Journalism Awards.

CN’s Editor Paul Colston, Deputy Editor Vikki Carley and O’Donnell were also shortlisted for the Journalists’ Business Travel Journalist of the Year and its Senior Designer Claudia Coutsides was shortlisted for the Business Travel Designer of the Year for a second consecutive year.

The annual awards, held at The May Fair Hotel in London, recognise journalists across consumer, meetings and events and business travel for their quality media coverage of business travel and meetings and events topics.

Dominic Ponsford, Editor of Press Gazette, chaired the judging panel of business travel and meetings managers, industry experts, and journalists, including former editors of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Correspondent, for the fourth year.

“Sarah’s understanding and passion for the social media space was praised by the judges as well as her ability to draft the rest of her team in and to engage them through a structured training process,” the judging panel commented.

“The judges were once again impressed by her thorough, pioneering approach, bringing her publications into the social media world. Sarah’s tangible results and comprehensive portfolio showed growth across the board.”

Last year Colston picked up the Meetings and Events Journalist of the Year Award.

The awards, now in their ninth year and organised and promoted by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), are a celebration of the achievements of individual journalists and designers.

The winners will be treated to a lunch at The Dorchester, courtesy of CWT and the sponsors of the awards: DoubleTree by Hilton, Finnair, Flybe, Gulf Air, Heathrow Airport, InterContinental HotelsGroup (IHG), The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Guoman Thistle, Travelport, United Airlines and Air Canada, and CWT Safety & Security powered by iJET.
