Conference News and Mash Media are celebrating after two wins and four shortlists at last night’s (17 November) Business Travel Journalism Awards.

Conference News’ Editor Paul Colston picked up the Meetings and Events Journalist of the Year Award and CN’s Online Editor Sarah O’Donnell was awarded Best Use of Social Media in Business Travel Journalism.

Colston and O’Donnell were also shortlisted for The Journalist’ Business Travel Journalist of the Year. Graphic Designer Claudia Coutsides was shortlisted in the Business Travel Designer of the Year for her work on the new-look CN.

The winners of the 2011 Business Travel Journalism Awards were announced at a glittering ceremony at The May Fair Hotel. Journalists across consumer, B2B, meetings and events and business travel titles were recognised.

Now in their eighth year, the awards seek to recognise and reward the very best in business travel journalism and magazine design. The awards are organised and promoted by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT).

Editor of Press Gazette Dominic Ponsford chaired the judging panel of business travel and meetings managers, industry experts, and journalists including former Editors of the Daily Mirror and Gloucestershire Echo.

“Having been involved in many different journalism industry awards I don’t think any other events are as comprehensively and fairly judged as this one,” Ponsford commented. “These really are the Pulitzers of UK business travel journalism.”
