The Charing Cross Hotel opened its doors to meetings and event bookers (5 September) to showcase its new event spaces, following a half a million pound makeover. Guests were treated to cuisine from newly-appointed Head Chef, Dean Crews, including a whole Scottish salmon, mini cheese and bacon tarts, fizzy blackcurrant sorbet and frozen gin and tonic. Entertainment included a live band playing summer anthems, blackjack and roulette tables and a magician.

The project saw eight of the hotel’s nine event spaces redesigned and refurbished this summer, with new technology including HD presentation equipment and convenient USB charging ports in every room. Guests can also take advantage of free Wi-Fi available in all areas of the hotel, as well as specially scented marker pens which will be provided to help stimulate delegates. The Charing Cross Hotel can accommodate a range of events from intimate gatherings for 10 people to parties for up to 200 guests.

“The renovation is the latest stage in the ongoing investment of the hotel which included the addition of the executive Buckingham Wing in 2011,” says Glenn Hallam, general manager of The Charing Cross Hotel. “We have worked very closely with the designers to create a different style for each of the eight meeting spaces to reflect the history and heritage of the property. We are also redesigning our food and beverage offering at the moment and we look forward to introducing this to our clients very soon.”
