Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) latest Business Barometer report says changing technology is the industry’s top future trending topic.
The October 2012 report is a breakdown of a survey carried out every two months by research firm Association Insights with MPI’s Business Research Panel, a group of senior level meeting professionals.
Sixteen per cent of respondents said changing technology would be high on their agenda in the coming months, 11 per cent said flexibility, nine per cent said virtual and hybrid use, eight per cent sustainability, six per cent flat budgets and a further six per cent said smaller meetings and events.
An MPI spokesman says: “Meeting professionals continue to adapt their business and evaluate new strategies as the geopolitical and technology landscapes evolve.
“Many are enjoying slightly higher budgets, attendance and overall business conditions and are actively pursuing technology, training and hiring solutions that align with these.
“Expected meeting outcomes continue to change among attendees and budget owners, and meeting professionals must adjust accordingly.”
