BWUH Ltd., the operator of Northern Ireland venues including ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall, and Ulster Hall, has appointed Stephanie Murray as head of marketing and communications. Murray rejoins the company after a stint as head of marketing and partnerships at the global Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), and brings extensive international experience in business events. Her prior role involved collaborations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to enhance city-specific business event initiatives.

Julia Corkey, chief executive of the venues, spoke of the strategy behind Murray’s role. “At the very heart of our vision – to create a world-class stage where people make great things happen – is our fantastic team. Stephanie’s appointment is significant as she will be central to bringing our vision to life and alongside our team deliver on our ambitious plans for both business events and live entertainment.”

ICC Belfast, Northern Ireland’s purpose-built conference centre, plays a part in both local and international events, driving the region’s business tourism sector. Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall further enrich Belfast’s cultural and night-time economy, drawing approximately 370,000 visitors annually and contributing to an industry valued at £345m.

Murray expressed the importance of fostering a sense of purpose among the teams and stakeholders. “It’s an exciting time to join BWUH Ltd., with Belfast growing in its role as a city for business events. I am passionate about Belfast’s future and look forward to fostering cross-collaboration with our partners to propel our venues to new heights and further enhance Belfast’s reputation as a leading city within the international events landscape.”

This appointment coincides with a period of significant economic growth and tourism in Northern Ireland, highlighted by major events and recognitions such as Belfast’s designation as the UK’s third UNESCO City of Music in 2021.
