The Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) has welcomed the UK Trade and Investment’s (UKTI) move to offer new support for event organisers with the launch of the Events Alliance. The initiative is designed to provide support for the events industry as part of a wider brief to support UK businesses to increase their export activity and to attract more inward investment.

The Events Alliance has been set up to “work in partnership with event organisers to increase the number of UK and overseas trade related events supported by UKTI” and will provide a number of resources for the events industry.

The Events Alliance is able to support any UK SME in any sector and can provide a number of services including: promotion of specific events, attendance at events by UKTI officials, hosting of networking opportunities, to host a pavilion at specific events, provide knowledge and territory market intelligence, etc.

Within UKTI’s Trade Group, Events & Missions team, businesses have access to three main sector Directorates with intricate knowledge of specific market sectors, from life sciences to creative industries.

UKTI is looking to encourage more companies to export, by increasing the number of core events onto the programme, from 75 this year to 300 next year.

“The agenda of UKTI in growing their international presence is aligned with that of Partners of the BVEP in showcasing their products and services to a global marketplace,” says BVEP Chairman Michael Hirst (pictured).

“We’re delighted that UKTI have recognised the role events play in attracting inward investment and international business growth.”

UKTI will now have a seat at the partnership as part of its commitment to the industry. It will also work with Britain for Events to disseminate more information about the services to the whole events industry.
