Bubble Food, an event catering and food design company, has launched an initiative to support the foodbank at St George the Martyr Church on Borough High Street during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bubble Food has repurposed its Camberwell-based food production facility and commercial kitchen into a distribution centre for individuals with foodbank vouchers from the Waterloo Foodbank.

It will serve vulnerable, elderly, low-income and homeless individuals and aims to produce 100 meals a day for a period of one month.

Bubble Food will use its kitchen premises, chefs, food packaging and administrative team to operate the scheme, with financial donations for the purchase of fresh produce to make the meals. The cost of ingredients for 100 meals is £450.00 and the public has an opportunity to donate here.

Michael Collins, managing director, Bubble Food, commented: “This is a time of great hardship for many people. As a business operating in the events world, we have seen normal operations grind to a halt with the postponement of every spring and early summer event.

“We felt it was important to use our facilities, network and expertise to support a fantastic local charity, and at the same time galvanise our workforce with a shared mission of positive support for the community.

Individuals in need of support can contact the foodbank here.
