BTA reveals £4.45bn loss to UK GDP

Today, 6 August, the Business Travel Association (BTA), has revealed the UK has lost £4.45bn in GDP last week due to the decline of business travel trips following Covid-19.

Data from Travelogix shows that in the fourth week of July 2021, international business travel trips from the UK dropped by 86.27% from 2019 pre-pandemic levels, with a reduction of 338,310 business trips in the past week.

The data shows travel restrictions to France has cost UK GDP £547m, the USA has cost UK GDP £528m, Germany has cost UK GDP £485m and Spain has cost UK GDP £363m.
