The Business Travel Association (BTA) is calling for an end to what it calls unfair and excessive drop-off and pick-up fees at UK airports. The move is in response to some airports raising their fees by as much as 25% this year. The BTA has published a white paper on the issue entitled: ‘Drop the drop off fees’.
Passengers at London Stansted Airport are paying £17 for drop-off and pick-up services, the highest rate in the UK.
Given the significant impact on consumers, business travel, and the industry, BTA is urging collective action and a government investigation into the pricing of these fees. “We urge UK airports to re-evaluate this policy and eliminate these fees altogether,” said Clive Wratten, CEO of BTA.
Wratten added: “It is utterly illogical for these fees to have soared to such unprecedented levels. Being dropped off and picked up at the kerbside is a necessity for many travellers.”
The association’s latest white paper, ‘Drop the drop off fees’ includes contributions from travel companies across the industry including British Airways and Honeywell. You can find it here: The BTA – Business Travel Association – White Papers
