The British Motor Museum has received praise from Coeliac UK due to its commitment towards accommodating gluten free dietary requirements.

The venue was the first conference venue in the UK to secure Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free (GF) accreditation in 2015, after recognising the need for the hospitality sector to accommodate those with Coeliac disease, with one in 100 people in UK having the disease.

In order to recognise the British Motor Museum’s dedication, Coeliac UK recently welcomed more than 120 professionals to the venue for its annual Gluten Free Industry Day.

At the event, speakers from international Gluten Free accredited food chains and brands, including Pizza Express, Asda and Warburtons shared their expertise and knowledge of the gluten free food sector with delegates.

Attendees from across the food suppliers sector were also able to take part in a series of interactive workshops and networking opportunities.

Guests were also able to enjoy complimentary access to the British Motor Museum’s exhibits and view vehicles from British automotive history.

As the first conference centre in the UK to gain Coeliac UK GF accreditation, the British Motor Museum has a separate designated gluten free kitchen on-site to cater for guests. Additionally, the venue’s in-house catering team regularly revises its menus to ensure its food is accessible for every guest, including vegan and Halal options.

Head of catering services at Coeliac UK, Christine Lewis, said: “For Coeliac UK, it’s imperative that we book our events at gluten free accredited venues and not only did British Motor Museum provide just that, but the team and venue truly surpassed our expectations.

“For the day, our guests were served delicious gluten free meals, from breakfast through to afternoon tea, and the chef provided excellent support and menu choice throughout the entire process. Aside from the wonderful food, the British Motor Museum made an impressive and accessible location for our conference, not forgetting the incredible historic vehicle display, friendly staff and excellent facilities.”

Paul Kelly, chef at the British Motor Museum, added: “It was a pleasure to cater for such a forward thinking and well-respected charity like Coeliac UK. We pride ourselves on having the facilities to provide a diverse menu to meet any dietary requirements in today’s varied landscape, and we do so with the upmost quality to ensure peace of mind for each and every guest.

“It’s important that we set a leading example of culinary standards in our industry, so we were really pleased to be recognised by Coeliac UK; it was a pleasure to cater for its delegates.”
