The Brighton Centre has revealed that its Ultimate Site Visit (USV), held in June 2012, has resulted in a return on investment worth more than £9m to the City of Brighton and Hove.
The USV saw over 100 VIP conference, exhibition and event organisers, and media guests experience first-hand the Brighton Centre’s recently completed £1m renovation programme. The event featured an immersive and interactive tour of the venue, incorporating the use of film, sound and permance, showcasing the versatility of spaces around the Centre with a Brighton twist.
As a direct result of the event, the Brighton Centre has reported a series of new conference and event bookings. These include the Eco Technology Show 2013 and 2014, the British Society of Immunology conference 2014, 2017 and 2020, the College of Occupational Therapists conference 2014 and 2015, and the Chartered Institute of Housing South East Region conference in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
“The Ultimate Site Visit proved a fantastic showcase for the new-look Brighton Centre and a great shop window for organisers to see the special attractions for delegates that the City of Brighton and Hove can offer,” says Head of Tourism and Venues at Brighton and Hove City Council, Howard Barden. “Eighteen months on, and we can trace significant new bookings directly to the USV. Meanwhile, we are continuing to improve the venue, and remain committed to new investment and initiatives to help ensure organisers make the most of their event in the city.”
Highlights of the USV included the transformation of the newly refurbished Auditorium 1 from a daytime conference in the morning into a evening awards ceremony in the afternoon; live theatre permances and a showcase of Brighton’s hotel offerings in the second floor meeting rooms, plus a live multimedia area and press hub was created in the third floor suites. In addition to this Auditorium 2 was transformed to present the enhanced sustainability credentials of the venue to demonstrate how to run sustainable events.
