Brighter, a full-service global meeting and events company, has attained the ISO 20121 certification for sustainable meetings and events.
ISO 20121 is an international standard for sustainable event management that ensures that organisations minimize their environmental, social, and economic impact while planning and delivering events.
Brighter event managers work to reduce the environmental impact of events while improving sustainability reporting to support client goals.
The entire events team has completed ‘sustainable events training’, enhancing regulatory compliance and risk management.
Staff, contractors, and suppliers now have updated roles and responsibilities to align with the standard, and marketing materials feature green symbols and compliance logos.
Paul Casement, Brighter’s executive director of groups, meetings and events, said: “We are seeing more and more of our clients wanting to really integrate sustainability into events. Tender processes increasingly want evidence of sustainability practices too.”
He added: “With this sustainability certification, clients old and new wanting to work with a responsible supplier can be confident that Brighter has the right skills and experience to deliver the event they desire.”
Julie Evans, standards and assurance manager at parent company Clarity, said: “The work towards this standard has influenced Brighter’s mindset to delivering even more memorable events which maximise performance and energy efficiency, while also minimising the impact on our environment and local communities.”
Brighter now incorporates ISO 20121 into Clarity’s existing Integrated Management System, which already includes several other ISO standards.
