ICC Birmingham is preparing to welcome over 500 events in one as the Conservative Party Autumn Conference returns to the city for a third time this year.

The conference, 7-10 October, will be attended by the Prime Minister, David Cameron and members of the cabinet. Over 13,500 delegates are expected to attend along with 1,600 national and international media.

Nick Waight, Managing Director of The ICC said: “When conferences repeatedly choose to return to our venue it is the best endorsement that we are getting things right. It is a tribute to our hard-working, professional team that the conservative party have chosen to return for the third time in five years.”

In addition to the main conference there are 500 fringe events; from breakfast meetings to full scale banquets and we will see staff delivering over six months worth of events in just four days across the whole of the venue.

Azhar Hussain, Director of Organiser Fingerprint Events said, “The ICC is an extremely versatile venue, which is exactly what is required for the Conservative Party Conference.  The event requires planning at the highest of security and event management levels.”

The Conservative Party Autumn Conference will generate £16.5m for the local economy and is seen as a key city-wide event, with The ICC team working closely with Marketing Birmingham, West Midlands Police and Birmingham City Council.

Neil Rami, Chief Executive, Marketing Birmingham, which operates the city’s leisure and business tourism programmes, added: “Birmingham’s visitor numbers reached a high of 33.5m last year, helping boost the value of its visitor economy to £4.9bn. Major events such as political conferences, which the city has a real track record of hosting successfully, play a key role in bringing influential visitors and media to the city.”
