As part of its commitment to recruiting and retaining hospitality talent, The Belfry Hotel and Resort has signed up to the Hoteliers’ Charter.
The charter was launched in 2020 and exists to help raise the profile of the hospitality industry and advocate working in hotels as a “rewarding long-term career choice.”
By signing the charter, The Belfry supports 10 commitments, including agreeing to develop and mentor employees while positioning hotel roles as careers, not just jobs; supporting the ambition to end low pay; providing a positive and nourishing workplace environment and culture for colleagues and driving sustainability with a commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle, and champion the government’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050.
Chris Eigelaar (pictured), resort director, The Belfry Hotel and Resort, said: “As a major employer in the Midlands, we are acutely aware of the ongoing recruitment and retention challenges faced by our industry.
“These issues were exacerbated during the pandemic and because of post Brexit and to overcome these issues and ensure we have a robust and motivated workforce, it’s crucial that we showcase how the industry can offer a hugely rewarding, varied and long-term career.”
