Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau appoints Business Tourism head

Rachel Downing has been appointed Director of Business Tourism at the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau (BVCB).
 
In the newly-created position, Downing will lead the convention bureau division within the BVCB to promote Belfast as a destination for both national and international conferences and business events. According to the BVCB, her appointment reflects an increased focus on strategic business tourism to attract out of state visitors and revenue for the city.
 
Downing has held senior positions in the corporate and public sector and most recently, she headed InterTradeIreland’s Communications and Marketing department. Previously she worked as Channel Marketing Manager for British Telecom’s (BT) Business Corporate in the City of London, where she was responsible for corporate business development and sales.
