Belfast Wateont was the first stop last week
on the Meetings Industry Association (mia) Anniversary Book Tour, as the
association marks 25 years by sending a commemorative book across the UK and Ireland,
linking its members and destinations.

Belfast Wateont Conference and Exhibition Centre welcomed the book at
its first stop, as the venue undergoes a 4,000sqm extension as part of a £29.5m
development funded by Belfast City Council, Tourism Northern Ireland and the
European Regional Development Fund, under the European Sustainable
Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

When the extension opens in spring 2016, the venue will boast 7,000sqm of event
space.

Fifty events are already booked in ahead of that opening and they are scheduled
to bring over 43,000 delegates to the city, generating 94,000 delegate days.

The MIA 25th Anniversary Book was treated to a hard hat tour of the
construction site and visited Belfast City Hall, the Ulster Hall and Stormont,
before heading off to Dublin, where fellow mia member, Meetings Booker was set
to open a second chapter.

The book reaches its final destination, the miaList, in London on Monday 28
September.
