The Percy Community Centre in Bath has won £30,000 from Santander’s Social Enterprise Development Awards to help fund improvements in its meeting facilities.

The centre, which offers room hire for conferences, parties and sports activities along with after school clubs and free services to local families, entered the Santander business competition to help fund the development of new office space to create a high quality conference facility and support social enterprise start-ups and local charities.

“At the moment with a sports hall on the first floor, our meeting rooms on the ground floor cannot be used at the same time,” says Centre Manager Adam Pitt. “Thanks to the Santander Award we will be able to install acoustic installation and along with flexible staging and new media systems, we’ll have a fantastic new space to hire out.”

Santander Regional Director, Julian Alexander, adds: “We are committed to investing in and supporting communities in the South West and the Social Enterprise Development Awards were set up to help enterprises looking to expand. The centre in Bath carried out a thorough review of the potential for their new ventures and presented a compelling business plan that will lead to a substantial increase in their revenue.”
