The Barbican’s Head of Sales and Business Events, Samme Allen, is to leave the London-based conference and events centre for Twickenham Experience, which sells and operates all non-match day conferences and events at Twickenham Stadium.

The announcement comes a month after GM Anthony Hyde announced he was to leave the Barbican Business Events team to “pursue other projects”.

As the new Head of Conference and Events Sales, Allen will commence her new role at Twickenham at the start of the New Year.

“I’m delighted to be starting 2014 with such an exciting new opportunity,” she says. “Twickenham is an iconic venue that has developed an excellent track record in delivering successful conferences and events.”

With over a decade of experience in the meetings industry, including four years at Barbican Centre, Allen brings a wealth of experience to the Twickenham team. She has held a number of voluntary roles, including her current position as Vic- Chair of the British Visits and Events Partnership and is past President of MPI’s UK and Ireland Chapter, having served for over six years on its board.

Allen was also instrumental in establishing London City Selection, a consortium of venues in the City of London that has driven business opportunities to the capital.
