The Barbican, London, will welcome the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat International Conference (CTBUH) 2024 from 23-27 September.

The conference is the world’s leading nonprofit in the field of tall buildings – including skyscrapers, and sustainable urban design – and the future of cities. It is recognised as being the centre for discussions on architectural innovation and urban sustainable development.

A host of leading experts in the industry will be attending from the architects and engineers to urban planners and other leading voices in the field. There will be around 1,300 attendees and 200 speakers from over 50 countries attending the event.

Located in the heart of City of London, the Barbican has strong accessibility for both UK and European delegates. It also aligns well with this year’s theme, ‘New or Renew: Addressing the Density Dilemma’. As per the topic theme, speakers will explore the challenges facing the construction industry today and asks the question: ‘Should we build new buildings, or should we renew the existing ones?’

The conference will feature presentations, panel discussions and an awards ceremony. Commercial director at the Barbican, Jackie Boughton, commented: “We are thrilled to host the CTBUH International Conference for 2024”.

CTBUH CEO Javier Quintana de Uña described the reason for choosing the Barbican: “its cultural importance and history perfectly embodies the conference theme”.
