In December 2013, the founders of international destination management company, Ovation Group Ireland, Patrick Delaney and Padraic Gilligan, are to leave the company.
Ovation Group Ireland was sold to global association, communication and event management company, MCI, in 2007 and its founders remained with the group until the completion of a five-year earn out, which ends this year.
As part of the move, Aoife Delaney (pictured) has been promoted to Global Sales Director for Ovation Global DMC and Karine Buggy, Global Operations Director for Ovation Global DMC, joins the MCI Global Operations leadership team.
Patrick Delaney and Padraic Gilligan, who served as Product Practice leaders for Destination Services at MCI, have not stated what they intend to do following their departures but their intentions are to remain within the meetings and events industry and “work with clients globally in the areas of strategy, education and marketing”.
“MCI started over 25 years ago as a destination management company in Geneva so DMC is a foundational, legacy competency within the company,” says Roger Tondeur, President of MCI. “MCI offers DMC services both stand-alone under the Ovation brand and as part of MCI’s unique end-to-end customer service offering.”
MCI CEO Sebastien Tondeur added: “We are grateful to Patrick and Padraic for the energy, vision and values which they brought to MCI since 2007. We look forward to exploring new ways of working together as they evolve into the next phase of their career journey. I am particularly excited to work closer with Karine and Aoife, a modern, powerful and dynamic duo of whom we can only be proud.”
Ovation Global DMC is MCI’s wholly-owned destination services division with offices at over 100 locations worldwide. Ovation operates in a stand-alone capacity directly with corporations and associations requiring logistics support at destinations all over the world or as an integrated part of MCI’s wider unique end-to-end customer solutions.
