Anthropy founder, John O’Brien MBE, has announced that the next edition of the summit will take place from 26-28 March 2025.
Anthropy was founded by O’Brien as a result of concerns for the economic and social impacts of Covid-19 and the negative public discourse arising from the Brexit referendum.
He has previously described the event as a “launchpad for change”, which offers an opportunity for an ecosystem of leaders from all sectors to share thinking and create solutions to the challenges facing the nation.
The summit usually takes place in November at The Eden Project, Cornwall.
Commenting on the reasoning behind the date change, O’Brien said: “This decision was made for a variety of reasons, as I believe it is in the best interest of building further growth and participation around up its ambition.
“Firstly, it is well known the month of November is very cluttered with various other events. Because of this congestion, it can preclude some potential attendees from joining us, thereby limiting the diversity of perspectives and experiences that make our gathering so special.
“Secondly, the political calendar also plays a significant role in my decision. Holding the event not long after the political conference season, has proven to be challenging in terms of gaining ongoing political participation. By shifting to March, I hope to provide a more conducive environment for engaging with policymakers and politicians bring them around our agenda in a more impactful fashion.”
Looking ahead
To “bridge the slightly longer gap” and maintain engagement of its member organisations, O’Brien said Anthropy aims to create online events, a podcast series and other opportunities. “We are dedicated to keeping the spirit of Anthropy alive throughout this period,” he added.
