Alexandra Palace has selected architect and urban designer Terry Farrell and Partners to develop a masterplan for the regeneration of the North London venue.

Following a competitive tender process, Terry Farrell and Partners, has been brought on to design options for the possible future use of the Palace. These will be displayed during a public consultation on the regeneration of Alexandra Palace, starting in May.

According to the venue, the complex regeneration of Alexandra Palace began last year and is aimed at repairing and restoring the 140-year old venue to host a broad range of events including exhibitions, live music, sports and outdoor activities.

News of Farrell and Partners’ appointment comes after the venue’s new CEO and Chief of Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust Duncan Wilson outlined ambitious regeneration and refurbishment plans to improve the venue’s tenancy and usage.

It also follows a £320,000 grant from English Heritage to fund urgent venue repairs and restoration.

“We are delighted to be working with Terry Farrell and Partners and look forward to them interpreting our vision for Alexandra Palace by creating imaginative and practical design concepts for this historic place,” Wilson said.

Farrell and Partners, a well-known architectural firm, is also behind the masterplan for the redevelopment of the Earls Court Opportunity Area including the Earls Court Exhibition Centres.

“We are delighted to be appointed to plan the future of Alexandra Palace, one of London’s treasures that is steeped in history,” Founding Partner Sir Terry Farrell CBE said. “It is amazing to think that 30 years after designing the temporary pavilion there, my practice now has the opportunity to shape the future, which we believe will be a very exciting one.”
